In the documentary film, Make A Circle, Jen Bradwell and her co-director engage the audience in a process that builds from the personal to the political. Focusing on childcare workers and how they are extremely valuable, culturally competent, and caring while simultaneously being underpaid and undervalued by our society. With this story as a background, we explore the process of telling a story in such a way that it creates action. In other words, how do we develop ideas to create a feeling of generativity and action. Bradwell will discuss her ideas of story development and we will link it to the work of PINC’s Community Psychoanalysis Track & Consortium (CPT&C). We will explore parallels between the film's story and the CPT&C — the power of unconscious processes within and between nested groups; how to build and thicken community; and ways to galvanize organized movements that facilitate social and psychoanalytic change.
