20260109%20SECFRI%20shaping%20cultural%20experience.pngJoin us for an in vivo 2nd Friday with choreographer and cultural strategist, Erika Chong-Shuch. For over two decades, Erika has been exploring “radical intimacy” through choreography and cultural practice. As part of her current year long residency at Stanford, Erika has embarked on a project which brings together pairs of people to make clay bowls while engaging in conversation, reflection, and care—culminating in an installation of 1,000 bowls that serve as vessels of memory and shared experience. In this special 2nd Friday, Erika will guide us through the making of these bowls as we engage in conversations about grief, memory, loss and joy. The questions that drive Erika’s work feel particularly urgent: How do we show up for strangers? How do we hold each other’s grief and joy? How can creative practices serve as forms of care? This will be an evening of creating and feeling, of thinking together about how Winnicott’s ideas about holding and handling may be applied to the care of community. This evening will be held in a private home and will surely be an in-vivo experience of shaping a cultural experience of care. No experience making clay bowls necessary!
