A Day with International Visiting Scholar Gail Lewis
April 11th, 2026
Often what is thought to be secret is actually ‘Hidden, but in Plain View,’ arriving unbidden in treatment via emerging clinical material or a physical reaction clinicians have while working with their patients. After a brief review of literary, psychoanalytic, cultural, and philosophical knowledge about secret keeping, Dr. Zerbe will elucidate her ideas through clinical examples and describe how listening for and welcoming discussion of precariously held secrets assists clinicians of all theoretical persuasions to grapple with these beguiling, yet often life threatening situations. Tom Wooldridge, PsyD, CEDS will highlight and discuss the issues raised.
